Christopher’s Catholic Update

Today I stumbled on this article below, titled “There Ain’t no Pure Church” by Mark P. Shea.  In the article he highlights some of the common areas that we as humans fail at, how we are all sinners bound to fail, and how the Church “Ain’t” perfect or “Pure”.  Even though he falls short on some points and borders some dangerous territory, his overall message is genuine.

The Canadian Auto Workers Union is organizing counter-protests to the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethnical reforms abortion van. 

On the CAW website, an article dated June 7th urges other members to participate in counter-protests to cooresponding events that the CCBR are going to hold in 7 cities.   These cities are Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Brampton, London, Toronto, and Ottawa. The article states that “anti-choicers” are assembling to overturn legal rights to abortion.

June 5th, 2012, Ontario passed Bill 13 the Accepting Schools Act 65 yay to 36 nay.  This is another unforunate blow to moral values in Ontario, and Canada.  This Bill seeks to erode religious liberty even further. Even though the ACT is filled with feminist, and anti-Catholic rhetoric the most damaging part to Catholics is the section below.

Fr. Dwight Longenecker on his blog gives an excellent analysis of sentimentalism and its distructive force. Personally I have seen some people, and groups attach themselves to this ideology in our churches. Sentimentalism is a twisting and counterfeit of compassion. Please read his full post over at
