I was only 10 years old the first time I watched The Godfather in 1972.

When I was 21, full of “p*ss and vinegar” as they say, I drove to New York City from my home in Toronto. I was with my friend, Steve, who was only 19. We wanted to see the sights – Times Square, the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty – and we stayed at the Edison Hotel in Manhattan.

Jesus calls us to “turn the other cheek” and “not return evil for evil.” This is what it means to be “meek” in the Christian sense. Ironically, it takes a lot of strength to do so because of our pride and our sinful inclination to seek revenge.

Although, you won’t hear many sermons condemning the practice, the Catholic Church still officially teaches that masturbation is sinful. In spite of all the pro-masturbation propaganda in our culture, “self abuse” is one of the most frequently confessed sins in the confessional.

Does Obama’s election and re-election signify an historic ideological shift in America? My sense is that for the first time in the nation’s history, “the left” now constitute a majority, if only barely so.

Did you know that when Jesus’ condemned divorce (Mark 10:2-12), that He wasn’t really talking about divorce? He was talking about gender equality!
