Sarah Palin “Throws Pearls Before Swine”

Sarah Palin openly opposes the gay lifestyle. She has said, among other things, that prayer can help homosexuals live moral lives. This is something the Catholic Church has taught for 2,000 years. But, in this supposedly tolerant age, it is a dangerous thing for a public figure to say. Cher, whose lesbian daughter had a sex change operation, apparently feels Palin’s views are intolerant so she recently called Palin a “dumb C word” (c*nt) on Twitter.

When I read about Cher’s tirade, I thought about Jesus’ warning, “Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you” (Matthew 7:6). I don’t agree with everything Sarah Palin says or does. (She has says some dumb things.) But I do agree with her opposition to gay “marriage” and that prayer can help gays, and all of us, to live sexually moral lives.

As far as I know, Palin has never said that gays are evil or that they are going to hell. She has not publicly said anything mean-spirited about them. Obviously, as a conservative Christian, she believes that homosexual acts are immoral. She believes that gays can live moral lives and that God will help them do so, if they pray. Many homosexuals have done just that.

I am not surprised by Cher’s obscene attack and the fact that she has not apologized. She is a product of our culture, and we are living in a particularly sinful age. Our sense of right and wrong seems to have been turned on its head. Many, otherwise intelligent people, can’t seem to have a civil discourse on controversial moral subjects. Like swine, who think that the pearls thrown to them are rocks, they viciously attack those who remind them of God’s commandments and moral standards.

However, the conservative Christian position on homosexual behavior and its prescribed remedy are correct. The problem is that we are living in a post-Christian era. Many people are blinded by their own sinfulness and pride and by the bad moral teaching that has become a hallmark of this era. This is no accident. The devil largely controls our media, educational institutions and government. Through these means, he is spreading the worst kind of lies, and most people, in their ignorance, seem to believe them.

“For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables” (4 Timothy 3:4).

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter (Isaiah 5:20)!
